This is a full-time position. Ideally, artists will be based in Ireland. However, the role is open to international applicants, but applicants must be able to work remotely within a +-2 hour time difference from the Irish timezone to allow for daily interaction with the creative and production teams.
Starting date: July 2023
Work with Art Director, CG Supervisors, and Senior FX artist to develop unique and imaginative concepts to help the production’s FX and look development run as smoothly as possible.
Follow the direction of the Supes or Director in implementing FX on a shot-by-shot basis.
Demonstrate and produce a variety of hand-drawn FX as per the shot or sequence’s need in a team-based setting.
Generate a wide range of stylized (graphic) FX (hand drawn, particle simulations, presets, or otherwise) as per the project’s aesthetics, contributing to scenes including; water, wind, smoke/poofs, steam, splash, dust, lightning/glowing or sparkles, bubbles, fire, storms, shadows, blurring, explosions, etc.
Manipulate and use stock 2D FX elements or 2D FX plug-ins if suitable to a shot/sequence.
Light and shade FX / Scenes as needed to integrate into pre-comps.
Submit work for review by FX Lead or Senior Artist, Art Director, CG Supervisors and Lighting and Compositing Supervisor as required.
Actively participate in team/departmental meetings.
Optimize, improve, and adjust FX scenes and relevant geometry to meet the project’s creative criteria.
Uphold and provide a thorough understanding of cutting-edge FX animation techniques.
Ability to create custom setups and templates for the library as well as work off of pre-built existing workflows.
Assist in the documentation and communication of technical and procedural guidelines for the development and use of lighting.
Work within the show structure and production deadlines to complete all tasks and meet client notes.
Reiterate the significance of dependencies, and deadlines and inform the Production Manager, Art Director, CG Supervisor, Lighting and Compositing Supervisor, and Production Coordinators of any emerging issues that may have an impact on the schedule.
Minimum of 2 years experience in CG/Animation.
Excellent knowledge of 2D & 3D CG-based FX workflows.
Have a strong creative style and a deep understanding of light, colour, shading, and FX design.
Solid understanding of Animation, Lighting and Compositing Pipeline Steps.
Good eye for composition, grading, and motion.
A team player with excellent communication skills, dependable and adaptable.
Good at taking directions and paying close attention to details.
Experience with Shotgun/ShotGrid, Adobe Animate, After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Nuke, Maya and Redshift is a must.
