Asset Supervisor

Giant are seeking an Asset Supervisor for an exciting new CG animation production.

Position Overview

This is a full-time position based in the Dublin studio, and we have remote working flexibility. However, applicants should be able to work in the Irish timezone as the studio.

Starting date:  September 2023

Position Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior Production, Pipeline and Creative teams to assess project scope, early concepts, scripts, briefs, and other references to assist in breaking down asset requirements and bidding them appropriately.
  • Oversee the creation of high-end assets and follow up on all asset departments to direct, and influence across numerous disciplines in order to hit targets. The delivery of shot-ready assets from the modelling, surfacing, groom and rigging disciplines is directly the responsibility of this position.
  • Help establish delivery schedules and quality standards in close collaboration with the Senior Production and Creative teams.
  • Work proactively with the Line Producer(s) and Production Manager to continually evaluate projects and asset estimations as production develops 
  • Troubleshoot cross-departmental issues, making sure any Asset-related concerns and inefficiencies are getting addressed in a timely and proactive manner
  • Collaborate with the Art director, Departmental Leads, and CG Supe(s) to ensure every asset is stress tested and meets the requirements of the studio and client
  • Collaborate with CG Supe(s) and cross-verify the scene planning to ensure the right assets are being used.
  • Work closely with the Departmental Leads and Production Management to determine the individual strengths of the team members and assign work/tasks accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Leads and Artists in all Asset departments, provide clear directives and objectives, and monitor progress.
  • Drives dailies and rounds with Artists and Leads to give feedback/approvals.
  • Attend client meetings and calls and represent the Asset Department as necessary.
  • Filter diverse feedback from both the Client and Project Director(s) to members of the team(s).
  • Help with the hiring process for new project hires by reviewing candidate applications,  and taking interviews as necessary.
  • Support a collaborative and creative environment that produces awesome Giant projects. And that included coaching and mentorship to department Leads and other crew members.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in CG/Animation production.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of 3D software, preferably including Maya, ZBrush, C4D, Blender, Substance Designer and Painter, Mari, Photoshop, Ziva, Yeti or XGen in Maya, Arnold and Houdini (preferred).
  • Strong Knowledge of Shotgrid.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the full CG pipeline, especially Asset Production.
  • Strong leadership skills and measurable track record in delivering against project goals.
