Assistant CG Editor

Giant are seeking an Assistant CG Editor for an exciting new CG production.

Position Overview

This is a full-time position and will be based in our studio in Dublin, Ireland.

Starting date: July 2023

Position Responsibilities

  • Understand the requirements and needs of the project and its departmental workflows, taking on specific briefs and targets outlined by the Production Team to deliver episodic edits throughout the production.
  • Receive, Import, and review the Animatic and/or Layout, Animation, and Compositing outputs as well as organise materials from the Internal team and Client for processing in Adobe Premiere.
  • Work closely with the Senior Editor, Art director(s), CG supervisor(s), and Departmental Leads or Supes to establish timing, rhythm, transitions, and flow of episodes, as well as help cut down episodes to time as needed for internal reviews and Client deliveries.
  • Flag or call out scenes for technical or continuity issues.
  • Trim footage segments and put together the sequences of the series as required.
  • Input music, dialogues, graphics, and effects, which usually come from the Client along with the EDL file.
  • Run edit sessions from Layout until Composting by consulting and working with relevant stakeholders.
  • Create rough and final cuts, alias lineups and implement creative and technical notes as required.
  • Work with the Senior Editor to meet all deadlines and production milestones as set out by Production Management.
  • Communicate any potential issues or delays and present possible solutions to shot production schedule problems.
  • Maintain a solid workflow and file management system.
  • To maximise efficiency, constantly discover and help implement the latest editing practices and technologies.

Position Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Animated projects.
  • Extensive experience with Adobe Premiere.
  • Great sense of timing and storytelling.
  • Ability to brainstorm inventive ideas to plus episodes.
  • Willingness to rework material multiple times while keeping a fresh eye.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple tasks in a fast-paced production.
  • Proven and Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Manage timelines ensuring work is delivered on schedule.
  • Experience with Shotgrid is required.
